22 August 2017 - 2017 August Update

The ARAA Board have been busy for the last few months, with lots of new developments happening in the background. Last week saw the launch of some of these new developments, which the Board are excited to share.

August Happenings:

  • Technical Director, Rob Stringer attended the SF15 Committee meeting Tuesday and Wednesday, 15-16 August 2017 in Sydney.
    ASNZS 1891 Series update is progressing well.

    A brief overview of changes:-
    - Lanyards andPole straps have been removed from part 1 and given their own part (5).
    - A new part (6) will be added to the series to cover ancillary equipment, such as anchor straps, carabiners, descenders, helmets and more.
    - More changes to come - Will keep you informed and let you know when each document is out for public comment.

  • ARAA Board and Assessors met on Wednesday night, 16 August 2017, to workshop question and answers on the ARAA/SPRAT partnership. Information sessions will be held with Training Centres and State Representatives next week; week starting 28 August. Keep an eye out for further details.

  • Chris Milne, Clancy Simpson and Rob Stringer met on Thursday, 17 August 2017 in Sydney, to kick off the process of developing a new Rope Access Code of Practice (COP). The COP is ARAA's foundation document, which is getting a much needed rewrite. If you are interested in being involved, contact the ARAA office via phone, 0437 768 731, or email, info@araa.net.au, and your details will be passed on to the redevelopment committee.

  • During the month of September, ARAA will hold an Assessor workshop. One of the topics being covered will be, Level 1 changes in training and assessment. The workshop will also be open to all Training Centre and State Reps. Watch this space for further details.

21 April 2017 - Board Member Resignation

We would like to announce the recent resignation of ARAA Board Members, Robert Dunshea, Deputy Chairman and Richard Delaney, Technical Director. The ARAA Board would like to thank both men for their dedication and service to ARAA, and the Australian and International Rope Access Industry. We specifically thank Rob Dunshea for his 15 years of dedication and service on the ARAA Board. We also thank Richard Delaney for the expertise and knowledge he has brought to the ARAA Board. Both Rob and Richard will continue to serve the ARAA Community as ARAA Assessors, and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

27 March 2017 - 2017 RopeLabour Day

ARAA and it's members have been invited to join BMS Group of Companies (Singapore) and the Singapore Rope Access Association for their 2017 RopeLabour Day - International Rope Access Workshop.

The workshop will cover a range of topics, along with allow all Rope Access Technicians to compete in both individual and team events.

04 October 2016 - Memorandum of Understanding: ARAA & SPRAT

In an effort to better current international Industrial Rope Access Techniques, SPRAT strengthened the relations between itself and ARAA, with the acceptance and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding submitted on 4 April 2016 at the Annual SPRAT Conference by the ARAA Board.

15 September 2016 - Changes to Assessment Pre-Requisites

On Tuesday, 13 September 2016, the ARAA Board of Directors passed a motion to change current pre-requisites for ARAA level 2 and 3 assessments. The minimum requirement to have a current First Aid Certification before a candidate can sit a level 2 or 3 assessment has been repealed. This change is effective immediate as of 15 September 2016.

22 August 2016 - New ARAA Management

ARAA ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT IS ON THE MOVE! After consideration by the Board and feedback from our members, the decision to move has been made to raise the level of professionalism and realign our foundations. Taking effect on September 1st 2016, ARAA will be managed in Rockhampton, Queensland.
